Feeding the poor – a social responsibility or an act of kindness ?

An empty stomach can make a person do the unexpected. One of the biggest problems that Pakistan faces is poverty. More than half of the country lives below the poverty line or near it therefore unable to buy the necessities of everyday life. The escalating crime rate in the country can be linked to the poverty that the country faces. In an economy like Pakistan it is hard for even educated people to find respectable jobs; most of the people are underpaid and overqualified for their jobs. The young generations filled with the frustration of having no future in the country tend to adopt the wrong way to feed their families. A man stealing bread for his family isn’t a crime it is actually the ignorance that prevails in the society. Our society is what turns people away and forces them to adopt the wrong way out of desperation. Everyone knows someone who might be going through a rough patch in life, instead of helping them we turn a blind eye towards them. When such social injustice and inequality grows in a society it breeds vices. It is not just an act of kindness to feed a hungry person but it is also a social responsibility to help the people in our society who needs it the most but are too ashamed to beg. As being a Muslim state it is the duty of every person to look after the poor people around us because that promotes the sense of unity amongst the masses and stops the breeding of hatred for the elite amongst the uncontended lower class of a society.
